Intro

The E-book The Sun In His Eyes by Renée Belloni was recently introduced, included around hundred photos.

Dedication

Renée dedicates this E-book for peace in the world and peace starts from within ourselves. The more peace there is within yourselves the more peace there will be in your troubled world.

A quote from Anne Frank: “When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.”

Promiss to share

A promiss made by my Grand Niece and two Grand Nephews.

E-book The Sun In His eyes

This (E-)book is also for Renée's Grand Niece Ella and Grand Nephews Phoenix and Kai, so that they can learn about the life stories and experiences of their Great Grandparents and hopefully propagate these stories. Renée feels it is important that the knowledge about the insight of her parent’s lives and certainly all their emotions involved are preserved and passed on. At the book launch, a commitment was made by them to read and share the Belloni narrative upon reaching a more mature age. Renée reacted with unbridled delight at their promiss.

What is the book about?

Her parents, Claude’s and Anita’s, pain and suffering carried on throughout their lives. Despite all the horrific treatment of the Japanese and the pemudas, the revolutionary young Indonesians, finally they were able to forgive which was an important factor of their healing process. They realised that they could not punish the current Japanese and Indonesian generations for the pain caused by their elders.

Where to go now?

After the miserable Bersiap period, the Indonesian independence war, her parents met in Makassar, a city in southern Celebes, now Sulawesi, where after their engagement, Boy married his Anita in November 1948. Later, after the transfer of sovereignty at the end of 1949, there was no place left for the ‘Indisch’ people in the renewed Indonesian archipelago. Her parents had to search for a new country.

Having left their home with aching hearts, they opted for the last Dutch colony in the tropics, Dutch New Guinea. In September 1950, my father found shelter in the town of Hollandia. There was literally nothing. Almost everything had to be built from scratch. Both the area and the population had to be elevated to a higher level. This was pioneering work of the highest order. Her father became the Dutch voice in the jungle where he was employed by the R.O.N.G., the Radio Broadcasting New Guinea, based in Hollandia. He took part in expeditions to almost untrodden paths and communicated with foreign press correspondents. Claude experienced many adventures with the natives, the Papuans. And through his accounts, in the book Renée will take you along on some of his expeditions.
